The central branch of the International Talent Taiwan Office and the Business Angel Investment Program opened in Taichung City, highlighting government commitment to providing services for foreign professionals and startups in central Taiwan.
Established in 2023, the International Talent Taiwan Office is a national-level service center to attract and assist all types of overseas professionals. It is a one-stop hub for information, resources and personalized help desk support, providing guidance on visas, employment, housing, banking, education and taxes.
Speaking at the launch ceremony Dec. 30, Jan Fang-guan, deputy minister of the Cabinet-level National Development Council, said that the Executive Yuan is promoting a smart and precision technology initiative to build new core industries in central Taiwan in line with President Lai Ching-te’s goal of balanced development nationwide. The council’s goal is to build central Taiwan into a world-leading smart manufacturing center, he noted, adding that introducing more international personnel is key to enhancing industrial competitiveness.
The office also serves as a branch of the National Development Fund’s Business Angel Investment Program, which started operation Dec. 1, the NDC said. Running until Dec. 31, 2030, the program allocates NT$10 billion (US$318 million) to support higher-risk startups and improve the angel investment environment in Taiwan.
According to Jan, the program office helps integrate NDF resources in central Taiwan. Whether an entrepreneur has an idea or a new startup, they can access cross-agency consultations and apply for financial support through the office, he added. (YCH-E)
